Chikkaballapura is also the home turf of health and medical education minister Dr K Sudhakar. Consequent to the new victory, Independent candidate Ananda Reddy supported by Dr K Sudhakar became the new President and Veena Ramu, a JDS councillor became the new Vice President.

Chikkaballapura city council has 31 members. By winning 7 members in support of BJP, Sudhakar secured the presidential post for his supporters. Three Congress members abstained from voting.
