Chilling Details Emerge in Balakrishna Poojary Murder Case
In a recent twist in the murder investigation of Balakrishna Poojary from Depputte, Ajekar, authorities have uncovered that the suspect, Dilip Hegde, acquired poison as early as June from a private laboratory in rural Udupi.
Hegde posed as a medical student to convince the lab to sell him ‘Arsenic Trioxide,’ indicating that he had been plotting the murder for over five months. Police have interrogated the lab owner, who confirmed the transaction. Udupi SP Dr. K. Arun noted that additional questioning may be warranted if needed.
Dilip Hegde, who was raised and educated in Mumbai, has remained largely socially isolated. He holds a BCom degree and returned to Karkala a few years ago to manage his family’s business. This background raises questions about how he transitioned into a perpetrator of violence.
Authorities suspect that Hegde gained information about Arsenic Trioxide through online searches, researching its chemical properties and lethal effects. Investigators are also looking into whether he may have been influenced by social media, films, or acquaintances regarding the use of the poison. His extensive online research likely included insights into the effects of slow-acting poisons on the human body.
