I end up working for long hours and because of this, there are a lot of quarrels happening at home! What should I do? I am a social worker!
Social work is such a field wherein sometimes people get so much engrossed in the work that they’re doing for the community or society that they end up forgetting their responsibilities for the family.
I agree that there is no end while working with the communities. However, drawing boundaries is also important for each one of us.
While doing social work, sometimes we end up becoming saviors or rescuers for the community members. Hence, we take all the responsibilities of the community members on our own shoulders which becomes burdensome sometimes. While it is important to work with the highest dedication to society, it is important to dedicate oneself to the family as well.
A holiday; family time; a break at least once a week help in rejuvenating oneself.
Unless you spend quality time with your wife, you may not become a good husband. Unless you give your time to your children in the process of child-rearing or grooming or mentoring, you will not be a good father.
Unless you dedicate a certain amount of time to taking care of your parents or elderly people at home, you will not be a good son. Vice versa is true for female social workers.
Therefore, it is important to have a balanced approach to work and personal life.
Don’t end up working all the time, without having family time!
