Mangaluru: Prof Jayanth, retired chemistry professor of St Agnes College here, passed away on Thursday May 13 due to heart attack.

Prof Jayanth had inspired many people from the city to get interested in astronomy. He used to introduce his students and other interested people to the wonders of the sky like eclipses and comets. For this purpose, he had hired a house at Saripalla some distance away from the city where he used to unfold the mysteries of the celestial world for the benefit of the people.

He used to conduct a number of activities through Mangalore Amateur Astronomers Association and was always active.

His students say that even after he parted ways with them, his lifestyle will continue to provide them guidance and inspiration throughout their lives.
