Congress MLA Stirs Controversy; Gundu Rao Slams PM Modi’s Silence
Congress MLA Kuttar Manjunath’s contentious remarks have sparked debate, prompting Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao to respond from Mangaluru. He stated that although individual lawmakers might voice their opinions, the nation as a whole is demanding clear explanations.
Referring to former U.S. President Donald Trump’s statement regarding a ceasefire, Gundu Rao said that the global community became aware of the ceasefire only after Trump’s announcement. If Trump’s claim was untrue, the Indian government should have countered it promptly. He added that both Pakistan and India later confirmed the ceasefire, but India’s leadership remained silent initially.
Gundu Rao criticized PM Narendra Modi for avoiding any mention of Trump while being vocal against nations like Turkey and Azerbaijan. He also questioned the government’s silence on China, despite Pakistan allegedly using Chinese weaponry.
He clarified that the Congress party is not questioning the Indian Army’s credibility. Instead, he pointed to BJP MP Sofiya Qureshi, who openly expressed distrust in the government and even approached the judiciary. Gundu Rao emphasized that grieving families from Pahalgam urged citizens not to communalize the issue.
He condemned BJP workers for targeting a diplomat’s daughter and argued that criticism should be directed at those responsible for the ceasefire declaration—namely, the Prime Minister. Gundu Rao called for a non-political, transparent discussion and proposed an all-party meeting. He concluded by urging Modi to answer the nation, rather than delivering misleading narratives.
