Congress MLA Vinay Kulkarni Booked for Rape, Kidnapping, and Threats
Congress MLA Vinay Kulkarni from Dharwad has been charged with rape, kidnapping, and criminal intimidation of a 34-year-old social worker in Bengaluru. The Sanjaynagar Police registered the case on Tuesday, adding to the legal troubles of Kulkarni, who is already out on bail in a BJP leader’s murder case.
Kulkarni, along with his associate Arjun, allegedly threatened and assaulted the woman after she denied his repeated advances following their introduction in January 2022. The victim claims the MLA used threats and even criminals to coerce her into sexual encounters, with incidents occurring at his Bengaluru residence and later in Dharmasthala.
According to the complaint, Kulkarni also forced her to take a vow, swearing not to disclose his crimes. Audio recordings of their conversations have reportedly gone viral, intensifying the case.
