Congress to Stage Major Protest in Raichur Against Soaring Prices
Raichur: In a strong show of dissent, the Congress party is set to organize a divisional-level protest rally on May 7 at Mahatma Gandhi Stadium in Raichur. The agitation is intended to spotlight the continuous surge in the prices of essential goods under the BJP-led central government.
N.S. Boseraju, Karnataka’s Minister for Minor Irrigation and Science & Technology, confirmed the rally while addressing a coordination meeting with party leaders from municipal limits on Sunday. He accused the BJP of misleading the public through emotional narratives and unfulfilled promises to secure power at the national level.
“The cost of petrol, diesel, LPG, and other daily necessities has steadily climbed since the Modi administration took office. Coupled with inflated GST rates, this has deepened the hardship faced by ordinary families,” Boseraju stated.
Urging Congress workers and citizens to participate in large numbers, he emphasized that the event is more than a demonstration — it’s a united stand against economic policies that have harmed the common man.
He also criticized the BJP for fostering divisiveness, claiming the party focuses only on elections and uses caste and religious differences for political gains. “We must shift public attention to real concerns like inflation,” he said.
Highlighting Karnataka’s welfare efforts, Boseraju said the Congress has honored every promise made during its campaign, unlike the BJP’s empty rhetoric.
Senior Congress members, including local leaders and office-bearers, attended the meeting in preparation for the rally.
