Manipal gang rape : VHP, Bhajrangdal set ultimatum for arrest of culprits

Udupi : The Vishwa Hindu Parishat and Bhajrangdal activists who took out a protest march from Syndicate Circle to Tiger Circle at Manipal, have set a 24 hour ultimatum to the police department to arrest the culprits responsible for the gang rape of a medical student of Manipal University student . The organizations have also threatened to resort to a Udupi bundh otherwise.


Addressing a protest meet held near Tiger Circle Sharan Pumpwell, Bhajrangdal leader charged the police of failure to check drug abuse and immoral activities in Manipal. Such problems, he said have arisen as late night parties are allowed. He also warned that his organization will have to act if the police failed to check the menace.

He said the state home minister KJ George  must resign in the backdrop of the incident and for failing in preventing such incidents from happening. He said the culprits must be arrested by June 27, Thursday evening.

Suprasad Shetty, VHP District President, Akshaya Gokhale, Manjunath Mandya, Sunil KR and others took part in the protest.
