Hubballi: The commercial capital of the state, which witnessed the horrific murder of Nehar Hiremath, has once again witnessed another gruesome murder, this time of a young girl in the wee hours of Wednesday.

The deceased has been identified as Anjali Mohan Ambiger, 20. The murder occurred near Devi Gudi in Veerapur Oni within the Bendigeri police station limits, while the victim was at her grandmother’s house.

The accused, Girish alias Vishwa S Sawant, aged 21, is currently absconding after fatally stabbing the girl. He resides in Yallapur Oni.

The victim used to work in a catering company, and the accused had been following her. It is learned that he had been pestering Anjali to start a relationship with him, but she had refused. Knowing that he was following her, the victim’s parents sent her to her grandmother’s house.

Around 5 am, he knocked on the door of Anjali’s grandmother’s house, and when Anjali opened the door, he attacked her with a knife, stabbing her multiple times. She died on the spot, and the accused fled the scene. The police have yet to arrest him.
