
Dacoit Arrested After Failed Robbery in Dharwad; Police Open Fire to Stop Escape
Dharwad police successfully arrested an interstate dacoit on Saturday morning after he attempted to flee following a failed robbery attempt on the outskirts of the city. During the incident, two policemen, including a police sub-inspector, were injured and are receiving treatment at KIMS Hospital in Hubballi.
The arrested individual has been identified as Bala Venkateshwar, alias Kalyankumar, who is reportedly involved in over 50 criminal activities. Authorities are now searching for his gang members.
According to Police Commissioner N Shashi Kumar, Bala and his gang attempted to rob a house, but their plan was thwarted when the homeowner, Vikas, alerted the police and a neighbor. Upon the arrival of law enforcement, Bala and his associates attempted to flee the scene. In order to prevent his escape, the police opened fire, targeting Bala’s legs.
This gang is suspected of involvement in a dacoity case that occurred six months ago in Sattur. The police commissioner also revealed that Bala is wanted by law enforcement agencies in four different states and four districts within Karnataka. The gang, connected to the notorious Stuartpuram gang, is known for its ruthless methods, including murder during robberies.
