Dharwad Police Rescue Six Children in Kidnapping Plot by Mothers and Their Partners
Dharwad police successfully rescued six children in a kidnapping case involving two mothers, Priyanka and Reshma, who, along with their lovers Sunil and Muthuraj, demanded ₹10 lakh from their husbands’ families. The accused were taken into custody, and the children were safely recovered in Bengaluru.
According to Police Commissioner N. Shashi Kumar, Priyanka and Reshma went missing on November 7 with their children, prompting an FIR at Vidyagiri Police Station. Initially treated as a missing persons case, it escalated when the families of the children received ransom calls threatening to sell the children if their demands weren’t met.
Police traced the accused to Bengaluru after searching across Hyderabad, Goa, and Maharashtra. The investigation revealed that Priyanka, a widow, was in a relationship with Muthuraj, while Reshma, despite being married, maintained a relationship with Sunil, her pre-marriage partner.
The children have been handed over to the Child Welfare Committee, while further investigations continue to uncover more details about the plot.
