Drugs in Karkala Kidnapping and Rape Case Sourced from Bengaluru
Udupi police investigating the Karkala kidnapping and rape case have uncovered that the drugs allegedly given to the survivor were procured from Bengaluru. Two more suspects, Giriraju Jagadhabi (31) from Andhra Pradesh and John Noronha (30), were recently arrested. Udupi SP Dr. Arun K stated that initial investigations revealed that Giriraju and Noronha, who worked together in Kuwait, had reconnected recently over drugs.
Giriraju arrived in Udupi after Noronha’s invitation, where he was introduced to Shahid, who attempted to source synthetic drugs locally but failed. Shahid then contacted Abhay, already in custody, who directed them to Bengaluru. Shahid, Altaf, and Abhay traveled from Karkala to Bengaluru to buy drugs from an unidentified supplier. They returned with the drugs, and a portion of them was handed over to Giriraju. The three received a commission, and Altaf kept some drugs, which were later given to the survivor during the alleged rape. Drugs were seized from Altaf’s car.
Five suspects have been arrested so far, but the main supplier in Bengaluru remains at large.
