Drunk driver crashes car onto railway tracks at Karnataka station
A highly intoxicated man drove his taxi into the premises of Tyakal Railway Station in Karnataka’s Kolar district late Sunday night (January 2). The vehicle, a Maruti Swift Dzire, went straight onto the platform before landing on the railway tracks.
The driver, identified as Rakesh, was arrested by Bangarpet Railway Police. Authorities used a crane to remove the vehicle, preventing further disruptions to rail services. A case has been registered, and investigations are ongoing.
In a similar incident last month, a woman was forced to jump out of a moving autorickshaw after the inebriated driver deviated from her intended route. The ordeal was later shared by her husband on social media.
In another unusual case from June 2023, a man frustrated by a delayed bus took matters into his own hands—by driving off in a Kalyana Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (KKRTC) bus to his village.
