Easter Heist Shocks Hosamajalu: Burglars Strike During Church Visit
In a brazen burglary that has left the quiet village of Hosamajalu rattled, unidentified thieves broke into a residence while the family was away attending Easter services at the local church. The incident occurred at the home of C. A. Abraham, a farmer, who had gone with his wife, son, and grandchildren to the Konalu Church for Easter celebrations.
Upon their return early Sunday morning, the family was met with a disturbing sight—the main door had been forcibly opened, and the house ransacked. A cupboard was found broken into, and gold jewellery weighing approximately eight sovereigns—valued in lakhs of rupees—was reported missing.
The Nelyady police were immediately alerted and reached the scene promptly. Fingerprint experts have been deployed to gather forensic evidence as part of the investigation. Preliminary checks suggest the break-in was well-planned, with the intruders likely monitoring the family’s movements ahead of the theft.
Residents in the area are now on high alert, concerned about the rising trend of burglaries targeting homes during religious or public events when houses are likely to be vacant. Authorities have urged locals to report suspicious activity and to enhance home security, especially during festive seasons.
As the investigation continues, the community hopes swift action will lead to the arrest of the culprits and the recovery of the stolen valuables.
