Mumbai: Comedian Bharti Singh and her husband Haarsh Limbachiyaa have been granted bail in the drug case by the magistrates court.
The couple was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) following the recovery of ganja (cannabis) from their residence and office in Andheri in Maharashtra.
Bharti Singh and Haarsh Limbachiyaa were produced before a magistrates court on Sunday by the NCB and they were sent to judicial custody till December 4.
While Bharti Singh was taken to Kalyan jail, Haarsh Limbachiyaa was sent to Taloja prison.
After this, the two filedd for a bail stating that snce they do not have any criminal antecedents, there are no question of them absconding.
The court waited till 2 pm for the prosecution to appear in the court. As the NCB failed to file its reply, the court pronounced bail to Bharti Singh and Haarsh Limbachiyaa in the drug case.
The NCB had raided the residence of Singh on Saturday and seized 86.5 gms of marijuana. Her husband was arrested the following day. Both Bharti Singh and her husband Harsh Limbachiya confessed to consumption of ganja.
Bharti Singh and Haarsh Limbachiyaa have been booked under sections 20(b)(ii)(A) (involves a small quantity of drugs) and 8(c) (possession of drugs) and 27 (consumption of drugs) of the NDPS Act.
The NCB has been probing the alleged drug use in Bollywood after the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput in June on the basis of WhatsApp chats involving drugs.
