Content is now considered as the most important element irrespective of any field and especially in the field of Cinema. Content consumption is now selectively done by the audiences based on their preferences and tastes. People now prefer quality content over favourite or popular stars. In recent days, we see the biggest movie stars giving consecutive flop films in a row. Bollywood, one of the biggest film industries in the world, is going through a crisis of poor content.

India produces the highest cinemas in the world every year and most of the films see theatrical releases. The movies made in India come in various languages and Hindi film industry is one of the biggest and gets highest theatrical screens for release because Hindi being widely exposed language in India. Actors of Hindi cinema have a high number of followers throughout the country. They are popular and have a large fan base from North to South. They are a popular face in the country as they are seen regularly in endorsements, advertisements, collaborations with Brands, Companies and Social media.

Bollywood is going through a dark phase in present times. Industry that ruled box office decades after decades is now failing to recover the budget. During the pandemic people were exposed to various contents of different languages and genres and this has had a great impact, now leading to viewers ignoring the traditional way of storytelling.

South Films in 2022 saw more box office hits than Bollywood. Movies like RRR, KGF – 2 and others minted thousands of crores all together in a limited time. The South movies such as Kannada, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam movies are now dubbed in Hindi and thus contents are reaching audiences irrespective of the language. On the other hand, movies of Bollywood stars like Akshay Kumar, Ranbir Kapoor, Aamir Khan and others are failing to recover the budget of the films. “Bhool Bhulaiya 2” and “The Kashmir Files” are the only two hindi hits this year.
