Mangaluru: Ambika Group of Educational Institution led by Nattoja Foundation Trust has installed new members to its management namely retired professor Dr. H. Madhav Bhat and senior social, religious and political leader Balakrishna Borkar. Nattoja Foundation Trust President Shivananda Rao announced the same.
Nattoja Foundation Trust Subrahmanya Nattoja and Treasurer Rajashree S. Nattoja and others were present on the occasion.
Bhat hails from Handadi village of Brahmavar in Udupi district. For past four decades he was serving as an eminent professor in English. From being a lecturer, HOD and the principal, Dr. Bhat has given a tremendous three decades to the field of education and is still serving as a professor and resource person. He also enjoys government recognition as Teachers’ trainer. Bhat has a tremendous contribution in introducing English optional in undergraduate studies in Puttur and has been instrumental in students of rural areas to pursue Masters in English and BEd programme. The credit of introducing “Education is Fun/Happiness” can be attributed to him. He has instilled love for English studies among students. He is a lover of performing arts such as Bharatanatyam, Yakshagana and music and also a dancer and Yakshagana artiste.
Borkar is from Kodimbady of Puttur and has dedicated himself to social, political, religious and cooperative fields. He entered into the public life around 1976-77 under the guidance of Rama Bhat and also has the distinction of voicing against the harassment on women Beedi labourers. He posesses the experience of being the director of Taluk Marketing Society, Director and President of PLD Bank, District President of Janatha Bazar and as a responsible member in several organisations. PLD Bank has received National award during his chairmanship. It is the only National Award received by PDL Bank till date in Karnataka. He has his contribution in organising religions events and is also working for the development of temples.
