Create, do not destruct: Dr. N K Thingalaya during Leadership Summit 2017

Mangaluru: “Today’s youth need to create and shape the country and not destruct it. Listen to your inner conscience and do not be a pawn to others and spoil your career”, urged Dr. N K Thingalaya, former chairman and managing director, Syndicate Bank at the Annual Leadership Summit 2017 at MITE, Moodabidri.

The one day annual “Leadership Summit” was organised by the Department of Management Studies of Mangalore Institute of Technology and Engineering (MITE), Moodabidri on October 10 at its Campus as a part of the Orientation Program for the Management Studies. The event is conducted every year with an objective to stimulate the young students of today to blossom into responsible leaders of tomorrow by inviting prominent leaders from the industry and also towards providing them the global perspectives of industry expectation.

The “Leadership Summit” is a platform for young leaders to share their vision on shaping young minds of tomorrow. Dr. N K Thingalay inaugurated the summit and in his inaugural address highlighted the importance of discipline and morality in leadership and urged the youth not to be dignified wage earners but to be entrepreneurs and wealth creators for the economy. He narrated the incidents on how leadership played a pivotal role in the development of banking industry in remote areas of India including Lakshadweep islands. Dr. G L Easwara Prasad, Principal, MITE presided over the inaugural function and in his presidential address urged the students to focus and learn leadership qualities. He also highlighted the importance of conducting the summit in grooming the young managers to be prepared for the emerging global scenario.

The summit involved sessions from four eminent leaders from the industry. Praveen Kamath, GM & Global Head, Human Resources, Wipro Ltd presented a talk on “Importance of Technology for the Managers.” In his talk, Praveen elaborated on the importance of continuous learning and upgradation to newer technologies. He also urged the students to be prepared for the requirements of tomorrow and accept new technologies.

The other prominent Leaders who presented the talk were Guruprasad Kamath, Vice President and Head at Manipal Digital systems; Kiran Prabhu, Assistant General Manager, R&D, Manipal Technologies and Nishanth M S, Vice President (Training and Agency development) Bharti AXA Life Insurance. Each speaker presented different aspects of leadership from their own perspective. The Summit was conducted as a part of the continuous industry engagement that is being conducted for the Business Management (MBA) students. Prof. Jaydev Prasad, HoD of Management Studies welcomed the gathering.
