Emergency dispatch riders for Manipal University Campus

Manipal: Manipal University has taken one more step to give security on the campus yet another boost. While a “Quick reaction team- The Manipal Tigers” is already operative from June 2015, two “Emergency Dispatch Riders” on motorbikes have been introduced on October 6, 2015.
It was felt that, a faster and less cost effective mode of conveyance was required in Manipal University campus for emergency situations to reach the spot in quick time. The new safety measure was flagged off by Dr H.S. Ballal, Pro Chancellor Manipal University in the presence of Dr Narayana Sabhahit, Registrar and other university officials. One of the vehicles will be used in Manipal Institute of Technology and the other for health sciences and Kasturba Hospital.

This new concept of “Emergency Dispatch Riders” was mooted by Dr. Prabhudev BMane, Chief Operating Officer Campus Safety. The vehicles are easily recognizable with easy registration numbers (KA 20 EK 1100 and KA 20 EK 1110) and are equipped with first aid kit. The dispatch riders are adequately trained commandos/supervisors. Emergency mobile numbers have been given for the motorbikes. For the one on the health sciences side it is, 9945670912 and for the MIT it is 9632101004.
