Vamanjoor: The new infrastructural facilities at St Joseph Engineering College (SJEC), Mangaluru, were inaugurated and blessed by the Chief Guest Rev. Msgr. Leslie Shenoy, Retired Chaplain of US Air Force on 8 November 2021.

The facilities that were inaugurated and blessed included MELODIUM-SJEC Studio, SJEC AICTE IDEA Lab and the Guest House.

The state of the art Studio MELODIUM is one of its kind facility in Mangaluru that has been acoustically designed by Mr Kevin D’Souza, Proprietor of Sound and About, Mumbai. This studio will allow the college to be at the forefront of online education activities that include the development of well rounded MOOCs among others. The studio will also help to unleash the creativity in students through music recordings, podcasts, video blogs and other artistic endeavours.

The well-furnished studio is divided into three segments that include the instrumentation console, recording space and preview cum multipurpose space. The studio has been built in line with the National Education Policy 2020 that places a special impetus on nurturing the cultural and artistic talents of the students. Additionally, it is also intended to promote media-related activities on campus. This facility is also open for utilization on request for the community of Mangaluru.

Following the inauguration of these facilities, the contributions of several dedicated individuals involved in these developmental projects were recognized as they were honoured by the Chief Guest.

The studio was made possible owing to a magnanimous contribution from the Chief Guest Rev. Msgr. Leslie Shenoy. In his address, Chief Guest called upon the gathering to follow their dreams and never give up even in the most challenging situations. He spoke about the need to give back to society and wished that the graduates coming out of St Joseph Engineering College could not only be successful in their career but also contribute to society at large.

During the event, Mr Aren Joy Fernandes from the third year ECE was felicitated for participating in the World Powerlifting Championship held at Halmstad, Sweden and securing overall 6th position in the world. With this, he has added yet another title to his long list of accomplishments. Mr Aren had earlier secured Gold Medal at the Asian Powerlifting Championship held in Kazakhstan in 2019.
