Mangaluru: The Kanachur Institute of Medical Sciences, Mangaluru celebrated ‘Plexus 2017’ on December 21 and 22, at their Health Sciences campus. Prof. Dr. K Byrappa, Vice Chancellor, Mangalore University was the Chief Guest and Arjun Kapikad, Action Hero of the Tulunadu region was the Guest of Honour. Haji U K Monu, Chairman, Kanachur Institute of Medical Sciences, Mangaluru, presided over the event. Abdul Rahiman, Director, Kanachur Institute of Medical Sciences, Dr. H S Virupaksha, Dean, Dr. Sreesha Khandige, Associate Dean, Dr. Devi Prasad Shetty, Medical Superintendent, Dr. Rohan Monis, Chief Administrative Officer, and Madhav Baghambila, social activist were present on the dais. Zohara Monu, Trustee, KIET, Sahada Rahiman, Fareeda Naseer, Trustee, KIET and their kith and kin were present on the occasion.
Dr. H S Virupaksha welcomed the guests and the gathering with his encouraging speech.
Prof. Dr. K Byrappa, in his address to the staff and students of KIMS, expressed that being a teacher and being a doctor are the most sacred of professions. He encouraged the students to strive hard and to be the best in whatever field of medicine they venture into.
Arjun Kapikad, infused a sense of euphoria into the crowd by entertaining them with a song and expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Haji U K Monu & Madhav Baghambila.
Haji U K Monu spoke of the importance of integrity, handwork and grit in the student phase. He encouraged the students to make full use of the exceptional infrastructure and the expertise of the faculty at the college.
The awards ceremony was held and students, doctors and non-teaching staff were rewarded for winning in competitions of singing, dancing, extempore, mad ads, quiz, rangoli, face painting, dumb charades, treasure hunt, volleyball and cricket.

The formal programme was followed by a cultural extravaganza with dances, songs and drama acts from the MBBS batch of 2016-17.
