Moodubidire: More than 5, 000 students from Alva’s Education Foundation came together to sing Kannada songs in groups on Thursday as part of the ‘Kannadakkaagi Naavu’ campaign organised by Kannada and Samskruthi department at Nudisiri Vedike here.
Students, teaching and non-teaching staff exhibited Kananda fervour by joining the chorus at Puthige, Mijaru, Vidyagiri on account of Kannada Rajyothsava celebrations. K V Ramana directed the music.
Simultaneously, over 5000 people sang popular Kannada songs- Baarisu Kannada Dimdimava, Jogada Siri Belakinalli, Huttidare Kannada Naadalli Huttabeku- waving Kannada flags.
They also took an oath to use Kannada language extensively in oral and written communication in order to preserve the language, culture, and heritage it inherits.
Venugopal Shetty, Dean of Arts at Alva’s PU College compered the programme.
