Bengaluru: Kannada Sangaha and Cultural Associations, Loyola Degree College, Bannerghatta Road celebrated 66th Kannada Rajyotsava in a grand way here in Bengaluru today. Chief Guest for the day was Chethan Kumar Ahimsa, actor and social activist. The Indian band ‘Djembe’ added the colour to the celebration as they performed an hour long show. Students of the College sang in unison Karnataka state anthem creating the patriotic ambience to the Rajyotsava.

Programme kick started with a rousing welcome to Chetan and Balu Djembe. Principal of the College Fr Francis D’Almeida SJ welcomed guests and led them to the dais. Dr Kumaraswamy BE, Dean of Humanities and HOD of Kannada gave a welcome address.

“We should preserve our mother tongue Kannada and should protect it. It’s a cool language,” said Chetan. He encouraged youngsters to contribute towards the betterment of the society where equality is served. Chetan’s powerful speech glued the audience and all in unison gave a huge round of applause.

Chief Guests and dignitaries of the day were honourd with souvenirs from the College. Programme lasted for two hours where Djembe enthralled the audience with DJ giving the fitting ending to the show.
