Mangaluru: The Business Administration Department of St. Joseph Engineering College, Mangaluru has organised a three-day Management Development Programme (MDP) on the topic ‘Agile Leadership in the Changing Business Environment’, which will be held from July 26 to 28.
The event was inaugurated by Dr. Rio D’Souza, Principal, St. Joseph Engineering College (SJEC) and chief guest of the program by lighting the traditional lamp. SJEC Director and president of the program Fr. Wilfred Prakash D’Souza, Assistant Director Fr. Rohith D’Costa, Dean of MBA Dept Dr. Prakash Pinto and program convener Dr. Shakila were present on the dais.
Dr. Rio D’Souza in his address, said, “Leadership is the college theme for this year. We are working towards developing good leaders within the environment of the college. Developing leaders is a challenge. Education is not the only key to success. You should also know how to lead the people and situations around you using your skills and abilities. Change is a need but, if you change too many things then it may lead to instability. It is a leader who knows how to change things without losing balance. India lacks leaders in the management sphere today. And this MDP is our effort to develop great leaders”. He appreciated the MBA dept. for holding such a program and thanked the participants for their involvement.
Director Fr. Wilfred Prakash D’Souza said, “Agility is an art. Agile leadership is the need of the hour today. Industry today is evolving very fast, we too need to change to match upto it or we will perish. In this environment, the current and the next generation leaders need to be agile. An agile leader should have the ability to inspire, innovate, adapt to the changing situations. The ability to accept changes and overcome any challenges helps improve our employees.” Further he added that a panel of agile leaders will be addressing the gathering during these three days and will help the participants to become agile leaders too.
Dr. Prakash Pinto welcomed and Satyendra Bhat proposed the vote of thanks. Program convener Dr. Shakila gave a brief introduction about the program and schedule of events.
