Manipal University organizes four-day orientation programme

Manipal: Four days of orientation for almost 2000 students and their parents from July 27 to 30, 2015 set the tone for a new academic year on the Manipal Institute of Technology campus in Manipal University here.

Flame 2015MIT offers undergraduate programs in engineering in 16 disciplines and also awards post graduate and doctoral degrees.

The orientation program which saw more than 800 students from different nationalities. The orientation program was designed to inform the students about academics and other activities on the campus, while at the same time it was an opportunity for parents to get a feel of everything that happens on the campus. A number of University officials addressed the students and parents on different days.

Dr. H Vinod Bhat, Vice Chancellor, in his keynote address urged the students to make use of the opportunities available at MIT such as the strong research oriented programmes, diverse extracurricular and community oriented activities, as well as the options available for collaborations with foreign universities for internships and semester exchange programs.

Highlighting the advantages of learning at Manipal, Registrar Dr G K Prabhu spoke about how an MIT student has an edge over others in the field. The Director of the institute Dr. Vinod V Thomas outlined his enthusiastic vision for the institute and assured the parents of providing the best possible holistic education to their wards.

Mr. Annamalai, the superintendent of Police, Udupi District was a special guest during the Orientation program. He addressed the students and briefed them on being sensitive to the ethos and culture of the local populace. He requested them to adhere to regulations and assured the support of the police to students.

Manipal University also prides itself in their international internships and their semester exchange programmes. Director of International Collaboration Dr. Ramjee briefed the students about the same. The four days of orientation included several other speakers who enlightened the students and teachers about the various aspects of studying at Manipal University and the benefits of the same.

The Associate Directors, Heads of the Departments, faculty members of the institute and other distinguished guests were present at the program.
