Mangaluru: The National Institute of Technology Karnataka Surathkal, NITK Science and Technology Entrepreneurs Park (STEP), in partnership with JNV Dakshina Kannada, organised the “Vigyan Jyoti Program” on November 17, 2022 sponsored by Department of Science and Technology, Govt of India.
The initiative seeks to improve the scientific temperament of young girls and encourage them to pursue varied fields of science and technology without regard to their gender. Students visited NITK’s Center for Research Capabilities (CRF) to learn about its world-class research facilities available.
Students visited the BIOWASTE Recycling Plant, sponsored by Marie Tecnimont, Italy, to obtain insights about the biogas produced by the BIOWASTE Recycling Process at the Biogas Plant (500 kg per day) installed at the NITK Surathkal.
They also visited the Center for System Design (CSD) at NITK to learn about the many types of drones and the CSD’s superior 3D printing technology. Further, they also visited STEP and other NITK departments.
Students were encouraged, regardless of gender, to participate in science, technology, and research and to contribute to the nation’s development. Prof. G.C. Mohan Kumar, Director-in-Charge, Prof. Arun M. Isloor (Coordinator, STEP), and Shri P. Rajesh, Principal of JNV Mudipu, attended.
