‘PanchSauKa Josh’ competition held at Vikaas PU College

Mangaluru: The ‘PanchSauka Josh’ competition was conducted by Vikaas PU College, Mangaluru, on Saturday, November 23.

Sri Abhilash, Managing Director, Abhijna Education Private Ltd, was the chief guest on the occasion.

In his address, he encouraged the students to do smart work rather than do hard work. He advised them not to listen to many people but to believe in one to achieve success. He reiterated the importance of taking only positive words from people with a positive mindset to achieve success.

Ayshwarya K, Principal, Vikaas First Grade College, Commerce Coordinator, Vikaas PU College and the chief coordinator of the event, said that today’s major concern is that formal education does not provide suitable skills to make candidates employable. “There is a huge requirement for skilled man power in our country. ‘Make in India’ is no doubt an important goal but the future course of Indian development depends on both ‘Make in India’ and ‘skill India’ initiatives,” she further added.

Prof. T. Rajaram Rao, Academic Director, Vikaas PU College, in his presidential address, said that memory power is improved only if one is able to understand the concept and model-making will enhance the understanding of the concept. “Keeping this in mind, the college conducted this innovative programme,” he said.

The participants were also given a brief session of career guidance by the chief guest.

Shreya, lecturer in Commerce and the programme coordinator, hosted the programme.
Sri Parthasarathi Palemar, Coordinator, Vikaas Group of Institutions, Dr. Manjula A. Rao, Dean, Vikaas Group of Institutions, and Shruthi Kishor, Dept. of Physics, the programme director, were present.

“Make in India”, a type of swadeshi movemement covering many sectors of the Indian economy was launched by the Government of India on September 25, 2014 under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to encourage the production and usage of indigenous products of India.

This programme is aimed at the development of the nation’s economy through industrial revolution by means of latest sophisticated technology. In this regard ‘PanchSauka Josh’ was held previously in the form of a model making competition for the students of various high schools of Karnataka.

A seed funding of Rs. 500 was given to each team and all of them were expected to develop innovative, aesthetically brilliant and creative models which will benefit the society and implement the same in the near future. A total of thirty teams comprising winners of Dakshina Kannada, participated in the competition.

The winners of this event were awarded a cash prize of Rs.10,000.

The first prize in Best Innovative Science Model category was shared by both Sharada Vidyalaya, Mangaluru (Nishant, Prayag Prabhu and Abhishek K) and Canara CBSE School, Mangaluru (Anirudh, Sujan and Nishant). The first prize in the Aesthetically Brilliant Model category was won by Shree Ramakrishna High School, Mangaluru (Chirag, Puneeth and Ayush). Consolation Prizes of Rs. 2,000 were won by Cambridge School, Mangaluru (Swayam Naik and Abhinav) and St. Theresa’s School, Mangaluru (Prateek, Clive and Zaheer).
