Mangaluru: Sahyadri Student Council for the Academic Year 2018-19 was inaugurated by Dr. Bharath Shetty Y, Member of Legislative Assembly, Mangaluru City North, by watering a plant as a symbolic representation of passing wisdom to the next generation.
The inaugural began with a presentation about the Council members and their roles and responsibilities. Manjunath Bhandary, Chairman, Bhandary Foundation, gave the opening remarks and urged the students to follow role models like Dr. Bharath Shetty and work towards building a better society through exemplary leadership.
Prof. S S Balakrishna, Vice-Principal facilitated the installation of the Council members and Dr. Rajesha, Dean–Academics led the students through their oath. Speaking to the students, Dr. Bharath Shetty called upon students to work for unity irrespective of what religion they follow or ideological differences that they have. He discussed about the current education system and advised the students to use the available opportunities to show their leadership skills.
