Mangaluru: Shreyas Adiga, a student at the Centre for Advanced Learning’s PU College, has been selected as one of the top 10 Indian students to represent the country at the Asian Pacific Mathematical Olympiad (APMO) in 2022. In the aforementioned Olympiad, India has been ranked sixth in the world.

Speaking to the mediapersons Vijay Moras, Managing Director of CFAL said, “Out of the ten students chosen for the Indian team, Shreyas is the only one from Mangaluru. On March 15, 2022, APMO was held in the country. The best ten papers were sent to APMO, where they competed against over 350 students from over 35 countries.”

The APMO aims to find, encourage, and challenge mathematically outstanding high school students under the age of 20, as well as foster cordial international ties and cooperation between students and teachers from around the region.

Shreyas Adiga is the son of Dr. Usha Adiga and Dr. Sachidananda Adiga, Professors at K. S. Hegde Medical Academy. CFAL teachers have helped him build a deep love for the subject by mentoring him throughout the years to solve complex Mathematical problems. His Sharada Vidyalaya teachers were quite supportive of him while he was a high school student.

Shreyas got into the Chennai Mathematical Institute (CMI), which is the country’s best institute for Mathematical Sciences. Shreyas scored AIR 603 in the KVPY 2020-21 SA category. He has qualified for the finals of the XV Russian Sharygin Geometry Olympiad. By completing the INMO exam in 2021, he qualified for the Online Mathematical Olympiad Orientation Camp. He also passed the INMO 2022 exam. He had also been chosen for the NTSE final stage in 2020.

Shreyas Adiga (student selected for APMO), Dr. Srikanth Pai, CFAL Math Professor, Gaureesh Raj, CFAL Vice Principal, student Shreyas Adiga, and his father, Dr. Sacchidananda Adiga were present.
