That step is your decision to start learning Arabic. Not a wish, not a thought, not a dream, but a decision. Desire is, in fact, a kind of blurry cloud outside of time and space, which does not move you anywhere in reality. A decision is already an action. This is a step. It is a coordinate system and a reference point. Point number zero.
But that’s not all. For your desire to turn into a decision, you need to set not only point A in the form of intention, date, and signature but also point B – the period in which you intend to reach a certain level in mastering the language. To determine the deadlines for achieving the goal, we will tell you briefly about the steps you must go through and the approximate time frames each step fits into.
You are mastering the skills of Arabic writing. Why without this step further – nowhere, we will explain in detail in the corresponding article. Briefly. To master this skill takes from two weeks to a month, subject to the daily practice of 30 minutes a day.
Learn to use a dictionary. For other languages, this stage is not distinguished as a separate skill. Still, for the Arabic language, the ability to use a dictionary is far from obvious, and we will talk about this in detail in the corresponding chapter. I’ll say that mastering this skill takes no more than a week but makes you an independent person, independent of would-be teachers, and able to find any necessary information in dictionaries.
You are mastering the principles of Arabic grammar. The online course has two parts: Arabic Grammar in 13 Hours. considered that even thirteen hours is too much to master basic grammar, and we put all the verb conjugation in the first seven hours. wecovered more complex concepts, such as exception verbs or breeds, in the second part, which is only 6 hours—a total of thirteen. Moreover, the second part, in principle, is not even necessary for everyone to learn. Just imagine seven hours for the base of such a seemingly complicated language!!! Your task at this stage is to decide how many hours you need, seven or thirteen. Or maybe you chose to learn grammar on your own? Then decide how much you will master it and in what time frame.
Mastering conversational skills. At a basic level, it is enough to memorize 7-10 dialogues and try to practice them. Further deepening depends on your specific goals.
Vocabulary set. We already know how to speak but don’t yet know “what to say.” At this stage, you need to learn elementary words. For the basic level, 500 words of vocabulary are enough. Even more than enough, because according to scientists, the average person uses only 250-300 words in everyday speech.
You are mastering the skill of listening. After all, you can even speak a foreign language, but at the same time not understand anything when they answer you. Therefore, listening is a different skill you must pay attention to when mastering the language.
Mastery of writing by ear. This is already aerobatics. Such a skill is necessary only for those who set themselves high career goals in an Arab country. But we will talk about the elementary level of this skill, available to everyone, in the corresponding chapter.
There are only seven steps. Seems like enough. But let’s get back to you, dear reader, and your specific goals. And the goals in learning a language can be very different.
For example, a person often visits some Arab country as a guest. The desire is to plunge a little into the culture of this country, to be able to say simple, polite phrases, read signs, the cost of goods in a store, and write his name in Arabic. To do this, it is enough to confine yourself to the development of Step 1. Well, maybe a little more Step 2. It will take at least a month and a half for this time. Just? It couldn’t be easier!!! And how much pleasure, new positive emotions, and acquaintances this simple step will entail!
