Mangaluru: The NSS Unit of St Agnes College (Autunomous), organised an inaugural programme for its activities for the academic year 2022-23 on 1 October 2022 in the PG Auditorium. Dr Sheshappa Amin, Associate Professor of Sociology, GFGC Carstreet and Designated Nodal Officer of Mangalore University NSS, was the Chief Guest. Sr Dr Venissa A.C. the Principal of St Agnes College was the President of the programme.

The programme began with a prayer led by Reema and group. Disha and group welcomed everyone with a welcome dance.  In his inaugural address, Dr Amin highlighted the need for volunteers to serve the poorest of the poor and educate them about the various government schemes launched for their benefit. He also enlightened the students about the growing addiction to gadgets and drug abuse and asked them to stay away from such vices. Presiding over the inaugural program Principal Sr Dr Venissa A.C. acknowledged the service rendered by NSS volunteers during the COVID and post-COVID period. NSS officer Dr Udaya Kumar B welcomed the gathering and Dr Meera NSS program officer proposed the vote of thanks. A cultural programme was presented by the NSS volunteers.  Manisha and group sang melodious folk songs. Mansi and group through the skit highlighted the importance of maintaining cleanliness. Anvitha and group entertained everyone with a folk dance. Vaishnavi compered the programme. NSS secretaries Sammitha and Preksha, NSS Officers Preetha Tauro and Anusha Noronha were also present on the occasion.
