St Agnes College hosts Azaadi Ka Amrith Mahotsav Zonal meet

Mangaluru: St Agnes College (Autonomous), hosted Azaadi Ka Amrith Mahotsav a Zonal Level Competition in association with Mangalore University on 26 July 2022 in Avila Block. The main events slated for the day were poster making and painting. 

The inaugural ceremony was a meaningful one with the presence of the student participants from various colleges and the members of the host college. The chief guest at the inaugural ceremony Sr Dr M Venissa A.C., addressed the audience questioned the students about the true meaning of freedom, and reminded the students about the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters who gave up their lives for the cause. 

In her speech, she brought forward the need for “seeds of love, peace and unity to germinate in us all.” Among the dignitaries present were the Registrar, Charles Pais and many of the teachers of various departments of St Agnes College. Meera, the Head of the Department of History was the convener of the programme. Arun Ullal was the master of ceremonies for the inaugural and Vinatha K, the Head of the Department of Psychology, proposed the vote of thanks.

Jayashree Sharma, an artist of International renown, Tara Rao, retired principal of Kavoor First Grade College, and belonging to the Department of History, were invited as the external judges for the competition. Tiffany Barrett, Department of History and Sr M. Christina Delphine, A.C., Department of Commerce, both from the St Agnes College (Autonomous) were invited as judges from the host college. There were participants from twenty local colleges from this zone of Mangalore University. 

Azaadi Ka Amrith Mahotsav, Zonal Level Competition was held with Mangalore University. The events included poster making and painting.
