Mangaluru: The Thirteenth episode of Career Guidance with Prof. Ronald Pinto on ‘Careers through JOC Job-oriented Courses’ was premiered on Friday December 10.
Spearhead Media Group Director Brian Fernandes hosted the show by NewsKarnataka, which is powered by Loyala College, Bengaluru.
Brian as an introductory note said, “This is a significant episode for someone who wishes to do good for oneself and the society.”
Answering Brian’s question on, Why job-oriented courses are more important, Prof. Ronald Pinto said, “If the general graduation like BSc, BCom, and BA are compared with profesional courses, post completion of the academics the professional course holder would be job-ready. The students from JOC are better placed than the students with degree.”
Stating the difference between ITI and Polytechnic he said, ITI course includes minimum of 6 months and maximum of two years, whereas Polytechnic is a diploma course of three years.
He explained on how to chose the course based on one’s ability and needs. He also noted that the person with polytechnic too can prosper like an engineer. Finally, he shed light on the concept of BVoc (Bachelor of Vocational Studies).
