Mangaluru: “Donate Blood, Save Lives” with the moto of the day as the Mangala Jyothi Integrated School SDM, Vamanjoor and Child Fund India Vamanjoor, in collaboration with the MSW students from School of Social Work Roshni Nilaya, St.Aloysius, Dr. M V Shetty Medical College and Mangalore University college organised blood donation camp for the students and general public on Saturday at 10:30 am in Mangala jyothi integrated school SDM, Vamanjoor.
Led by a prayer, the blood donation camp was inaugurated by Prof. C A Shantaram Shetty (Chairman of Red cross India), Prof. Rajendra A Shetty (President of Mangala Jyothi integrated school), Ganesh Bhat (Administrator of Mangala Jyothi integrated school), Punith D (Child fund project Manager Mangala Jyothi integrated school), Dr. Meena Monterio (HOD MSW department Roshni Nilaya) and faculty of M V Shetty MSW college by lighting a lamp.
Dr. Mohan S Singe, in his address to the gathering said, “Blood donation is one of the most significant contributions that a person can make for the society. It is not harmful for an adult person to donate blood at all since the body of the donor can regenerate the lost blood within few days time. It is a healthy gesture. Blood donation is our duty of every human being. Our body does not get affected if we donate blood. So we must come forward to donate blood as it can help in bringing a dying man back into the light of life. We hope that by uniting today to contribute to a cause like this, we can really make a difference.”
The Blood donation camp went on in a successful manner. Nearly 43 students and members of the community donated their blood for this noble cause.
