Mangaluru: The Manel Srinivas Nayak Institute of Management (MSNIM) organised a conversation with Hormuz A. Bulsara, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer, Tata Asset Management Ltd., (Tata Mutual Fund) as a part of its popular MSN Dialogue Series on Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at 3 p.m. at the institute campus in Bondel, Mangalore. Students and faculty of the institute and neighbouring colleges, academicians and the general public attended the program, which was held in hybrid mode. Vittaldas Leeladhar, former Deputy Governor of RBI and Mentor, MSNIM, was in dialogue with Bulsara.

The MSN Dialogue Series is a series of interactive events with corporate leaders and achievers hosted in a question-answer format to enable students to gain personal insights into corporate leadership. This knowledge endeavour is named after the institution’s founder president, Sri Manel Srinivas Nayak.

In his talk, Hormuz A. Bulsara said that integrity is the most important quality in business. “Once you show that your integrity is non-compromisable, you will attract good people and keep away bad people,” he said. He added that empathy and compassion are the essential qualities of leadership. “You will command the respect of your subordinates only when you show empathy, respect, and dignity to the individual,” he said. He advised the students to work hard and be focused in order to achieve success in their careers. “Give your best all the time, enjoy what you are doing, and be passionate about it,” he said.

He said students who aspire to a career in mutual funds should have a financial orientation and a service mentality. “Don’t follow stock market tips. Tips are for restaurants and not for investment. Always analyse the facts and figures before investing. Be cautious about the market risks and follow the riskometer,” he advised.

Attur Sandesh Prabhu, Branch Head-Sales, TATA Asset Management Limited, Dr Arjun Nayak Manel, Assistant Secretary, WNES, the institute correspondent Jeevan Das Narayan (former Managing Director, State Bank of Travancore and presently Additional Independent Director, Karnataka Bank Ltd.), Raghava Kamath, Member of the Governing Body, MSNIM, and the Institute Director, Dr Molly S. Chaudhuri were present.

Nanditha Sunil welcomed the gathering. Avanthika led to the invocation. Chitranjali, Faculty Coordinator, introduced the speaker and compered the programme. Reema Agnes Frank gave the vote of thanks.
