Mangaluru: Most of the students in the current generation have a very little knowledge about the history and culture of our country, mainly because the history textbooks of the school focus more on the invasion and the wars fought, rather than the glory of our nation. We hardly find any mention about the innovations, inventions, and technology used back then.

To tackle this issue, former minister and the Chairman of Vikas Group of Education Krishna J. Palemar, has come up with an idea of making the students aware about the history, mystery, and glory of our nation and instill patriotism among them in a very interesting and appealing way.

With regard to this an essay righting competition titled “Glorious Bharth” is now incepted.

For this competition, topics will be selected from ‘Glorious Bharath’, an informative book consisting of 111 topics on the history and culture of India, written by Dr. Ananth Prabhu G., Advisor, Vikas Group of Institutions.

The essay competitions are going to be conducted for the students of ninth and tenth standard in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Chikamagaluru, Shivamoga, and Davanagere districts. 5,000 copies of the book are already published and it’s will be distributed in the schools in the mentioned districts, for free. Next year, 25,000 more copies will be published so that, this program will be conducted in every district of the state.

The first, second and third place winners will be awarded Rs. 5,000, Rs. 3,000, and Rs. 2,000 respectively. Also, all the participants will be given with participation certificate.

The overall intention of the competition is to make students aware about 111 wonders of our nation, so that every Indian is proud of the rich culture, heritage and unity in diversity that exists in our country.

The college hereby appeals to all the teachers and the parents to ensure the participation of interested contestants in the programme.
