Tumakuru: Vybhavi Krishna, the rank holder of the first batch (2018-2020) of the Mass Communication and Journalism Department at Tumakuru University, has been selected for an MS programme at Colorado State University along with a scholarship.
Head of the Department Sibanthi Padmanabha K. V. said, “Vybhavi was a brilliant student and good at communication and studies. She had a bent of mind for research as well and had planned to pursue a PhD. I believe she may have considered moving outside the country to pursue her higher studies.”
Vybhavi had been working in a Bengaluru-based PR firm for more than a year. “Her contacts with event management teams and prior experience both aided her in accomplishing this. In fact, she tried to apply to more than ten universities. She knew how to approach those universities. She made an effort, and we offered our assistance with proposals and applications. We supported her but she is the one who tried her best,” he said.
Padmanabha said that she will be specialising in Advertising and Corporate Communication. “Vybhavi intended to do her PhD in this area. She will now do her MS degree, which will be for one year. She was given the chance to work as a teaching assistant as well. She will receive a stipend, which will aid her in pursuing a PhD. She will be returning with her PhD,” he added.
