World Diabetes Day held at Kanachur Institute of Medical Sciences

Mangaluru:  Diabetes is a silent metabolic disorder which causes life long health complications. It is global issue, growing concern patients required ongoing care and support to manage their health conditions and avoid further complications, which needs to be controlled by conducting various awareness camps, workshops and introducing latest remedial measures opined Executive Director of Kanachur Institute of Medical Sciences Abdul Rahiman. He was delivering his inaugural address on the “World Diabetes Day” organized by Dept. General Medicine on 12.11.2022 at their College Auditorium.

He further urged that the participants should participate actively in this continuing medical education (C.M.E)  workshop and enhance their knowledge and skills.

Dean of KIMS Prof. Dr K.G. Kiran in his address revealed that 11.2% of the Indian Population is suffering from this disease, and its increasing trend warrants control of the disease.    

Chairman of the Organizing Committee and Head of the Dept. of General Medicine  Prof. Dr B. Devdas Rai in his introductory address dealt in detail about the modern Life style related disease and revealed that diabetes is a life-threatening disease owing to obesity, physical inactivity, high fat sugar diets its main causes its awareness and precautionary measures.  Its early detection can avert many health complications affecting other parts of the body. 

Eminent Resource Persons Dr Sripathi Kamath, Dr Praveen Nayak, Dr Praveen Ramachandra, Dr Prashanth, Dr Shrinath Shetty, Dr Sourabh Bhat delivered guest lectures on various aspects of diabetes. 

Medical Superintendent Dr Harish Shetty, Chief Administrative Officer Dr Rohan Monis, and Karnataka Medical Council Representative Dr G.K. Bhat were present on this occasion. 

Organising Secretary Dr Shreekanth Hegde proposed a vote of thanks, and Dr Bharath Gowda and Dr Kathijath Thousifa compeered the program. 

About 200 delegates from different Medical Institutions attended this workshop.
