The workshop was inaugurated by Dr P V Bhandary, Director and Consultant Psychiatrist, Dr A V Baliga Memorial Hospital, Udupi, in the presence of Dr Arun G Maiya, Dean MCHP, MAHE, Dr Vinita A. Acharya, Head of Dept. Of Occupational Therapy and Shalini Quadros, Convenor. The role of Occupational Therapy and the importance of collaboration between the different disciplines was emphasized by both Dr G Arun Maiya and Dr P V Bhandary, the chief guest.
The theme for World Occupational Therapy Day for the year 2022 was “Opportunity+ Choice = Justice”. Dr Vinita A. Acharya explained the relevance of the workshop topic in light of the theme of how children in our society sometimes may be spoilt for or may not have enough choices. Creating opportunities for these children and advocating for their justice is something all Occupational therapists should be reflecting about. Delegates from Karnataka, Goa, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu and Kerala participated in the workshop.
