Yenepoya (Deemed To Be University) Signs Mou With Republic Of Ghana

The Yenepoya (Deemed to be University) and Directorate of Health Service, Republic of Ghana has signed a Memorandum of Understanding on 18th March, 2019 for the purpose of educational cooperation, extending health services and strengthening of relationship between two counties in terms of health, education and skill development.

Honb’le Dr. Anthony Nsiah-Asare, Director General of Ghana Health Service and Dr. M. Vijayakumar, Honb’le Vice Chancellor of Yenepoya (Deemed to be University), Mangalore signed the MoU at the High Commission, Republic of Ghana, New Delhi in the auspicious presence of the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency Mahamudu Bawumia at New Delhi, who was in India as a Special Guest of Honour at the 14th CII Exim Bank Conclave on India Africa Partnership Project. The second lady of Ghana, Her Excellency Samira Bawumia and several other Ministers from the Republic of Ghana and delegation, High commissioners and heads of various other African countries and were present on this occasion. The High Commissioner to India His Excellency, Mr. Michael Nii Nortey Oquaye and Mr. Eddison Mensah Agbenyegah, Head of Chancery, High commission of Republic of Ghana and Dr. Arun Bhagwath, Yenepoya (Deemed to be University) were the witness for this MoU.

The purpose of this MoU is to enhance bilateral co-operation in Medical Education & Research, Health Care Services and Skill development. The MoU also envisages training of doctors in advanced fellowships in super/subspecialties, capacity building and skill training through Health Technology programmes, Medical Tourism, Free paediatric care, faculty and student exchange in health and allied sectors, and establishment of joint centres for Excellence in research and training at Ghana, Establishment of incubation, Medical technology and entrepreneurship development Centres.

As a part of the programme, the Ghana High Commission in partnership with Mr. Dhiraj Ahuja, President, Delhi NCR Chapter Global Organisation of People of Indian Origin (GOPIO), and Dr Senorita Issac, Executive Head of Women & Child Welfare Wing, Delhi NCR Chapter and Founder Chairperson of Human Achievers Foundation organised an award ceremony to recognise the efforts of individual and institutions who have significantly contributed for the betterment of the society. Mr. Farhaad Yenepoya, Pro Chancellor, and Yenepoya (Deemed to be University) was awarded Excellence in Health Care Services. The other eminent awardees were H.E. Samira Bawumia, Founder and CEO of the Samira Empowerment & Humanitarian Projects(SEHP); Ms. Manju Lodha, Chairperson of Lodha Foundation and Founder, Guru Govalkar Skill Development Centre; Mr. Sreesanth Nair, Cricketer, Politician, Actor; Kishor Nawandaar, Chairman and Managing Director at Blue Billion Group; Usha Vajpayee, BJP Convenor for Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Pune City, Maharashtra; Chitwan Malhotra Founder, World Health Forum Advisor, UN Sustainable Development Goals 3 and Tawish School for Girls; Joe Singh, Director, BPR Data Solutions; Glenn A. La Mattina, Senior VP of National Project Development, National Realty Investors Advisors LLC and Divya Khosla, Actor, Director and Producer.
