‘Kelarai Yuva Karbar-2015’ held in Kelrai church

Mangaluru: The youth of St. Anne Church Kelarai were filled with enthusiasm as they celebrated historical event. Kelarai Yuva Karbar (KYK)-2015, an event for all the youth of the parish was celebrated on Sunday, August 23 2015. It was a fun day for everyone in the field.


The program saw 24 active events. Events like kabbaddi, throwball, tug of war, dog and the bone, running race, March past were the crowd puller.

The event was inaugurated by Ivan D’souza, MLC, Government of Karnataka. In his address to the youth, he said, “it was first of the kind event held only for the youth of the individual parish”.

The president of the program and the parish priest of St. Anne Church Kelarai Rev Fr. Joachim Fernandes in his message said, “In the former days, fields were play grounds and working in the field was enjoyment. But today there are no grounds to play, that’s why youth had to come to the fields which are barren”.

He urged all the youth to develop some interest towards agriculture. Zilla Panchayat member Melwyn D’souza, Kelarai Church Parish Pastoral Parishath Vice president Robert lancy Pais, along with Alice Vas, Secretary of Parish Pastoral Parishath, Mr. Wilfred Mascarenhas and Mr. Rohan Pais, ICYM and YCS president respectively were present.

Fr. Vishal Monis chief organizer of the event welcomed the guests. Santhosh D’costa conducted the proceedings of the day.
