Mangaluru: The Mangaluru Branch of SIRC (Southern India Regional Council) of ICAI (Institute of Chartered Accountants of India) & Mangaluru Branch of SICASA (Southern India Chartered Accountants Students Association) celebrated Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav on October 3 Sunday at ICAI Bhawan, Padil, Mangaluru.

The day began with a Walkathon of 5 kms from Mahendra Arcade to ICAI Bhawan, Padil.  CA members and students participated in the event.

The Chief Guest and Speaker for a Talk on Celebrating Unsung Heroes and India’s Achievements and Resolve was Brigadier I. N. Rai.  He highlighted the role played by the Army, Jawans, Police Force, Para Military Force who are the real unsung heroes and also insisted all country men to visit the Cellular Jail at Port Blair, Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

He gave an insight how the warfare takes place and also the sacrifices made by our Unsung heroes because of which we the Country men can breathe free. Their heroics are unparalleled & also Brigadier shared his experience, journey and the battles he was a part of.

The Chairman of Mangaluru Branch CA. K. Subramanya Kamath said, “Today we are honored to have the presence of Brigadier I. N. Rai with us. He is an inspiration to all of us and we salute his service to our motherland. We need to highlight and recognise the real heroes who for long have been unsung and organising this event of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav is a small step in that direction.”

Blood Donation Camp was organised as part of this event to commemorate the occasion of 70 years of SIRC of ICAI, Golden Jubilee of the Mangaluru Branch and the SICASA Unit in association with the Indian Red Cross Society and DK District. Members and students of the Mangaluru Branch gave 50 units of blood on this occasion.

CA Abdur Rahman Musba, Vice Chairman, CA Prasanna Shenoy, Secretary, CA Gautham Nayak, Treasurer, CA Gautham Pai D., SICASA Chairman, CA Ananth Padmanabha, former Chairman were present on the occasion.
