Mangaluru: The Bharath Academy conducted the first-ever Literary fest in Mangalore, a milestone event for all the ardent literary-enthusiasts of Mangalore, on Saturday, 27 Nov. with the Book Launch of talented young authors:
– The Cloud Climbs by Diya Pai,
– Beautifully Broken by Perpetua Periera and a compiled storybook of little children
– Stories and Sense by young, talented twelve students of UXCEL, aged from 6 to 17 under the guidance of Maria Phyllis D’Costa; Director, Uexel publications.
The hosts of the programme were Dr Vindhya Pai and Anand Pai, owners of The Bharath Academy. The Principal of Bharath Academy, Surekha M.H., Sr. Sarita AC, headmistress of Carmel School, Mangalore and Rev. Fr. Anil Ivan Fernandes were present.
Anand G Pai and Dr Vindhya Pai from Bharath School Trust congratulated the authors. Young entrepreneurs Sanjeet Xavier Rodrigues, Sameeksha Shetty, Mithun Jyothis, Oshin Pereira, Stalin Dsouza, Mother-daughter duo Taniya & Sony were honoured.
Surekha M.H., Principal of The Bharath Academy oriented parents about the importance of the Cambridge International curriculum which makes it the only school in coastal Karnataka to have this affiliation.
It was indeed a proud moment for Prof. Maria D’Costa, the director of UXCEL, to showcase the writers of her institute at The Bharath Academy platform.
Many events were organised under the direction of Anjana Kamath, Principal, Elements of TBA such as the Kids Flea Market and workshops by renowned resource persons Dr Malini Hebbar, Lianne Pais, Bharathi Shevgoor, Pallavi from Purple space & Phyllis Dcosta.
The aim of this fest was to encourage reading in children from a very young age and to inculcate sparks of creativity in them so as to become budding authors, poets and public speakers. The fest attracted a lot of people and young children from in and around Mangalore.
The audience comprised parents and well-wishers of the writers, Diya Pai, Perpetua Pereira, Keara D’Souza, Chinmay Sachidananda, Dhruv Rao, Nicholas Richard Pinto, Deanne B. Pereira, Adil Arun, Lysa Ashel D’Souza, Ved M. Rao, Aanya Pai, Laasya Shetty, Tanisha Pai, Aarna Kamath, Paul Pereira and Navya Pai.
At the book release, all the writers expressed their experience of putting their imagination into words and also expressed their gratitude towards their mentor and inspiration Prof. Maria D’Costa.
UXCEL expressed its profound gratitude to The Bharath Academy for providing a good platform to encourage budding writers of Mangalore and for giving a wonderful start for the writers-to-be.
Soon after the book release, over 200 books were sold to eager parents and members of the audience.
Young writers indeed created history at The Bharath Academy today, and are all excited about continuing to write and publishing their creations in the times to come.
