Mangaluru: Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) President Shashidhar Pai Maroor submitted a memorandum to Hassan Deputy Commission (DC) Girish IAS urging him to resolve the hazardous condition of roads in Donigal and Maranahalli (220-230 km) on Shiradi Ghat before monsoon.
“The present condition is unmotorable and hazardous to the life of the commuters. We request the District Administration to immediately inspect the condition of this road and propose to asphalt the surface of the road with proper paver finish to sustain the effects of the soon expected monsoon rains,” it stated.
The letter further mentioned that people of coastal districts experienced hardships in travelling on this stretch of NH 75 for the past several years when it was damaged due to rains every year and was not restored for months.
“If this stretch of (10 km) road is not restored it may deteriorate further causing major inconvenience to all types of traffic connecting the coastal districts and including heavy cargo movement to New Mangalore Port affecting the Exim trade severely,” it added.
KCCI also requested to DC approach the concerned authorities (NHAI) to immediately restore this stretch of road to safe and motorable condition ensuring the safety and comfort of the citizens.
