Mangaluru: MLA Kamath laid the foundation stone for the construction of Yatri Nivas in Mangaladevi Temple here in the City.
Speaking on the occasion MLA Kamath said that a grant of Rs. 50 Lakh in two installments of Rs. 50 Lakh has been released in the first phase for the construction of a Yatri Nivas to be built for the use of pilgrims coming from distant towns to Mangaladevi Temple which is the oldest temple in the City. Efforts will be made to provide additional grant, he added.
Local Corporator and Former Mayor Premananda Shetty said that when there was a space problem for the construction of the Yatri Nivas building the space issue was solved and provided under the leadership of the MLA. On the occasion of Navratri a lamp-lighting system has been arranged in the field environment by the corporation and the cost of the electric lamp-lighting system is being borne by the corporation. There was a plan to build Annachhatra on the South Side of the Temple. With the cooperation of MLAs an effort is being made to remove the legal complications by bringing a letter of objection from the Department of Archeology. A plan has been prepared for the construction of a well-equipped Annachhatra.
