Mangaluru: Enthusiastic participation by people of all ages was witnessed at the Walkathon organised on Sunday April 24th by Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd.
The event was organised as a part of ‘Samrakshan Kshamta Mahotsav (SAKSHAM) 2022’, a monthlong annual fuel conservation mega campaign of Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA). PCRA functions under the aegis of Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.
Flagging off the Walkathon, MLA-Mangalore North Dr. Bharath Shetty stressed that the initiative which is aiming to bring awareness towards various efforts being made in the country for saving fuel.
The walkathon traversed through Surathkal via Bus stand along the National Highway, before converging back at the Govinda Dasa College. T-shirts, caps and masks were distributed.
Around 600 enthusiasts including students from NIT – K and Vidyadayini Group of Institutions, employees and family members of MRPL along with local residents took part in the event. Placards with energy conservation messages were displayed. The walkathon ended with refreshment to the participants.
The event was well supported by Rotary Club and Govinda Dasa College. The event was followed up by cultural programme organised stressing upon nature and energy conservation. Mime act was also displayed for saving electricity by various cultural groups.
Director-Refinery MRPL Sanjay Verma, Group General Manager- Technical Services Shyam Prasad Kamath and other senior officials of MRPL were present.
