Mangaluru: The note books were distributed to the students of Kuthloor Higher Primary School at Press Club here on Saturday July 17.
The students of school which was utilsed for Grama Vastavya programme by the journalists of Dakshina Kannada was chosen for the distribution drive under the coordination of Dakshina Kannada Working Journalists’ Association and Belthangady Taluk Journalists Association.
Chief guest at the programme, S. A. Prabhakar Sharma Honorary Secretary of Indian Red Cross Society, Dakshina Kannada district distributed the books and addressed the gathering.
“The programme organised by the journalists are a model to the society. Holding a Grama Vastavya programme at Kuthloor and being responsive in learning the hardships of the people of this village is indeed a praiseworthy act. Now, not restricting itself to Grama Vastavya programme and extending helping hand to the development of the school is an honorary act. Journalists of DK district have proved that; Journalists are not just meant for reporting,” he added.
“Post Grama Vastavya pragramme, the scenario of the entire village has witnessed a change. Out of 167 demands made during the Grama Vastavya, a total of 120 have received response. Providing of computers, compound wall for the school, note book distribution and in several other ways the journalists have aided the school,” praised the School Development and Management Committee President of Kuthloor GHP School Ramachandra Bhat.
Vice president of Journalists’ Association Ibrahim Adkashtala, and State Committee Member Jagannath Shetty were present.
Shrinivas Nayak Indaje, President of Journalists’ Association gave an introductory note and welcomed the gathering. Suresh D. Palli, Member of Executive Committee extended the words of gratitude. Bhaskar Rai Katta was the Master of Ceremony.
