Shankerpura: The newly built Presbytery (Resident for priests) and parish office was inaugurated by former minister and MLA Vinay Kumar Sorake and blessed by Udupi Diocese Bishop Rev. Dr. Gerald Isaac Lobo on Saturday November 19 at St. John Evangelist Church Pangla.
A large number of priests, faithful, guests and school children gathered in front of the new glittering Presbytery. It was a moment of joy and happiness to see the beautiful Presbytery as expected by the faithful for the priests who will be dwelling in future.
Prior to the inaugural function, a Holy Eucharistic Mass was concelebrated by Bishop Dr. Gerald Isaac Lob along with Rev. Fr. Stany Tauro (Vicar Forane, Shirva Deanery), Rev. Fr. Joseph Martis (Rector, St. Joseph’s Seminary, Jeppu, Mangalore) and many other residents and guest priests.
The inaugural function began with a warm welcome by Deacon Roy. Vinayak Sorake inaugurated the Presbytery followed by the lighting of traditional lamp by Bishop Gerald Lobo, Udupi Diocese Vicar General Rev. Fr. Baptist Menezes, Shirva Deanery Vicar Rev. Fr. Stany Tauro, Katapady Gram Panchayat President Juliet Veera D’Souza. Bishop Gerald blessed the entire Presbytery along with Fr. StanyTauro. After the final blessings all faithful and guests of honour proceeded to the stage for the programme.
