Mangaluru: The Central and State Governments are committed to the overall development of the City and the foundation stone laying ceremony for various works worth more than Rs. 315 Crore will be held on Sunday March 5, said Mangaluru South MLA Vedavyas Kamath.
He was speaking after presiding over a meeting in this regard at the Smart City Limited Office Auditorium in City on Thursday March 2.
“Mangaluru Smart City Limited and Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) are constructing Central Market at a cost of Rs. 114 Crore, Corporation’s waterfront development project worth Rs. 140 Crore and the Sultan Battery Pedestrian Hanging Bridge at a cost of Rs. 45 Crore and for all this foundation stone laying programme will be held on Sunday March 5. The District in-charge Minister, MPs and elected representatives will also inaugurate the comprehensive development works at Kadri Park constructed expending Rs 16.5 Crore,” he said.
The foundation stone laying ceremonies and the inauguration ceremonies should be carried out smoothly and the authorities concerned should make proper preparations immediately for the same. After the foundation stone laying and inauguration ceremonies, a stage programme will be held at TMA Pai Hall in the City at 5.30 pm, said the MLA.
Instructing the officials he said, publicity of the programme should be made so that the Dstrict in-charge Minister, MPs, Ministers, MLAs, MLCs, Corporators and a large number of Mangaluru citizens participate. The MLA also instructed the Officer Arunprabha to print the invitation card as a letter and depute an officer to deliver it to all.
He said that the stage programme should be conducted smoothly and the authorities should take extra care of the necessary modalities for organising the event better including decoration, drinking water at the venue, and breakfast arrangements etc.
Mangaluru Mayor Jayananda Anchan, Deputy Mayor Poornima, Mangaluru City Corporation Members, Premananda Shetty, Diwakar, Bhanumathi, Kishore, Jagadish Shetty, Shakeela Kava, Mangaluru Smart City Limited’s Technical Department General Manager Arun Prabha, Executive Engineers Lingegowda, Chandrakanth and others were present.
