Udupi: The Nehru Yuva Kendra under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports of the Government of India has selected Shantiniketana Yuva Vrunda (R) Kudibailu, Kuchchoor, Hebri Taluk Udupi District for the best ‘Yuva Mandala Prashasti’ (Best Youth Club Award) for the year 2020-21. It will represent Karnataka State at the National level.
At the State Level (Yuva Mandala Prashasti) Youth Club Award ceremony held on Thrursday February 17 under the presidentship of Honorable Commissioner, Youth Affairs and Youth Empowerment Department, State Government and in the presence various officials and members under the State Government. There were 28 districts vying for best youth club award, and in the final round, the Shantiniketana Yuva Vrunda (R) Kudibileu, Kuchchoor Hebri Taluk, Udupi was unanimously elected for the State Level, informed Director of the Nehru Yuva Kendra, and Secretary of the Selection Committee M. N. Nataraj to Nehru Yuva Kendra District Officer Wilfred D’Souza who has issued this press release.
Applications for the Best Youth Club Award in Udupi District were taken up at the event. This time Shanthiniketana Yuva Vrunda (R) Kudibailu, Kuchchoor, Hebri Taluk, Udupi was selected for the Best Youth Club Award from the District in the final round of the District Level Selection Committee held under the supervision of the Honorable Udupi Deputy Commissioner.
For the past 9 years, Shantiniketana Yuva Vrunda (R) Kudibailu, Kuchchoor, Hebri Taluk, Udupi has implemented many popular programmes including social service and volunteering works for the betterment of society. Integrating with all types of society, organising free health camps, textbook for the education of poor children, uniforms, cash donations, environmental awareness and related programmes, conducting of workshops to support eradication of corruption, Vanamahotsava, awareness programmes on road accidents, various cultural programmes for children, organising of district level and rural sporting events, organising and spearheading a variety of cleanliness projects under the Swacch Bharat Abhiyan among others. The organisation holds workshops and many other philanthropic programmes for understanding cashless transactions. The Yuva Kendra has also started its own bank, Souhardha Sahakari Niyamita Bank for the benefit of the people, and for the development of their village.Gathering and distributing rice and other daily rations to the weaker sections of society, especially during the current Covid – 19 pandemic, public awareness and distribution of masks and distribution of pamphlets oti households. Covid – 19 frontline warriors had been honoured for their service, which was instrumental in garnering the attention of the Selection Committee and thus win an award. The award comprises Rs. 75000 cash reward, and certificate.
Shantiniketan’as youth have been doing a really good job for the past 9 years by conducting social and public service. Numerous organisations take birth and fizzle out in a short time as it lacks proper aim. But Shanthiniketana Youth Club has repeatedly come up with a dedicated community-based programme that has not just become a role model but has won praise from society. It is indeed a matter of pride that Shantiniketana Youth Club has won this award at the State level. Its hard work and dedication towards social work are laudable. let the club undertake more society-based works in the future too. It is worth remembering that last year Saanuru Yuvaka Mandala had won the State award. It is really joyous that for consecutive two years Udupi District has won the award and has become the first District to do so.
